2021 update of the Solid Waste Master Plan released for public comment

2021 update of the Solid Waste Master Plan released for public comment

The last revision to the County’s solid waste plan was in 2007.  The purpose and need for a management plan is to plan for the future needs for solid waste services and determining the need to allow landfills within the County and if so, the locations and size of landfills.  As part of the Staff project to amend the Zoning Ordinance to regulate a solid waste land use, the County underwent this master planning effort to define what conditions and requirements might need to be incorporated into the conditional use requirements.   The draft plan was released for public comment on September 15, 2021.  The County will hold a public hearing and could consider a vote for adopting the Solid Waste Plan at the October 19, 2021 Board of Commissioners meeting.  Comments can be sent to the Assistant County Manager Eric Larson at elarson@effinghamcounty.org.
