Our office is located in the County Annex.

What We Do
GIS, (Geographic Information Systems) creates and updates maps of Effingham County. We also provide a Street Index of Effingham County for county agencies and the public. A map may include roads, wetlands, voting districts, schools, fire and police districts, streams, county boundaries, EMS Units, flood plains, ponds and railroads.

The Zoning Department oversees all zoning related issues, including changes and planning of future development in Effingham County, while maintaining all zoning records and subdivision maps. We also process building permits and occupational tax certificate (business license) applications. Additionally, the Zoning Department conducts and schedules Planning Board meetings.

Code Enforcement handles residential and commercial code violations that are in the Incorporated Area of Effingham County.

Water meters County water systems are issued through this office.
