It is indeed my pleasure to serve the citizens of Effingham County. Being a lifelong resident and employee of the Board of Commissioners for over 23 years, it is important to me to be a part of promoting effective and positive change for our growing county; the habitation in which I work and live.
MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Office of the County Clerk to uphold the statutory mandates
of the State of Georgia Legislature and provide the utmost level of courteous, professional and proficient services to all people of Effingham County.
WHAT ARE THE JOB FUNCTIONS OF THE COUNTY CLERK?
The Clerk to the Commission is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and is officially responsible for the County seal, the retention and preservation of official records including: meeting agendas, minutes, resolutions, ordinances, as well as provide administrative support the Board. Additionally the Clerk researches, reviews and interpret policies, ordinances, resolutions and deeds. The Clerk of Commissions' primary role is to efficiently and effectively manage the goals and expectations of the Board of Commissioners.
Further, the Clerk is required to attend all Board of Commissioners meetings and ensure accurate recording of the proceedings. Meeting preparation is one of the essential services provided by the Clerk. The Clerk also is assigned as the Legislative Liaison and Open Records Officer for the County. Additional duties of the Clerk is to ensure all county ordinances are codified as required by State law. Effingham County utilizes the services of Municode/Civic Plus for codification. Internally, we provide administrative, procurement and facility management and hospitality services to various departments of the Board of Commissioners. The Clerk also facilitates communication between Commissioners, staff and the public, including providing information related to upcoming meetings and agendas.
